01-April-2008

Attached please find updated information which may assist you in planning matters in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

NOVA SCOTIA

Effective April 1, 2008, the Nova Scotia Government has reduced the annual renewal tax for unlimited companies from $2750 to $1000, making NSULCs competitive on cost with other options.  The incorporation tax for NSULCs continues to be $1000.

All other Nova Scotia Government fees increased by 1.9% effective April 1, 2008.

A summary of the new fees and taxes is attached for your reference.

Please note that amendments to the Companies Act (Nova Scotia) are about to come in to force which, while retaining all the traditional benefits of being in Nova Scotia, will eliminate all of the usual irritants.
